Professor Tanya Byron

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children and adolescents and have been working (both in the NHS and privately) for twenty years.

I did my first degree in Psychology at the University of York and trained in Clinical Psychology at University College London and my doctorate (The treatment of cocaine, amphetamine and ecstasy misusers) at University College Hospital and the University of Surrey.

I am a Professor in the Public Understanding of Science. I have honorary doctorates from the Open University and the University of York. I am Chancellor of Edge Hill University and am also Honorary Professor of Psychology at Shangdong Normal University, China.

As a clinician, journalist, author and broadcaster I work with and write about a variety of psychological and emotional issues as well as mental health difficulties that affect people of all ages.
